LUNGO DROM means long journey in Romani. LUNGO DROM is a proposal, through interdisciplinary artistic practices, to build a long road, in the form of a Nomadic Museum, which will minimise the ancestral divides between majority society and the Roma community in Alto Alentejo.
In partnership with the gypsy association Sílaba Dinâmica, with whom we have been working more occasionally over the last eight years, and in the context of formal work with the José Régio School Group - Assentos School, José Régio School and Alegrete School, as well as with the Portalegre Polytechnic Institute - Higher School of Education and also in informal contexts with the Portalegrense Workers' Cooperative, UMCOLETIVO has been realising a set of artistic objects that will form part of the collection of a nomadic museum, with the artists: Herlandson Duarte, Séfora Vargas, Pavel Tavares, Amargooo, Mariana Bragada, Susana Chico, Sara Afonso, Jorge Moita and Judite Dinis, Diego El Gavi, Natália Serrana and Maria Gil. These artists have worked with students from the José Régio school group, with the Portalegrense Workers' Cooperative, with the IPP Social Insertion and Multimedia Animation course and with the Euterpe Band, among others. The Museum opens its doors in Portalegre on 24 June, and will then be presented in various territories of the Alto Alentejo, and outside of it, at the Festa do Avante and Festa da Criança, in Seixal and together with Antípoda A.C. in Évora and Viana do Alentejo.
