About Us

A COLLECTIVE is a Cultural Association, founded in 2013, which develops activities in the field of artistic creation, based on the relationship with the territory, the plastic exploration of the word and the summoning of the public to the epicentre of the artistic object - where the idea of rewriting, real time and voice are found across the board.

After developing a strong relationship with Elvas, where we were based until 2022, we were responsible for many of the activities developed in the city, namely "ACTO - Festa do Teatro em Elvas" and "A Salto - Tomada Artística da Cidade de Elvas". We also developed a pilot project at Vila Boim Primary School with the scientific support of artist and researcher Simone Donatelli, through a protocol with the PNA and the OEI.

In 2022, the A COLLECTIVE decided to follow a new path, taking his art to the Santa Clara Convent in Portalegre, where it is currently based together with the Convent Theatre.

Our creative projects are increasingly seeking symbiosis with the vectors of developing new audiences and programming. We understand the space for artistic construction as a shared, horizontal and open place - a hothouse of affection and democracy, where we are meticulous in exploring ideas and raising questions.

Anchored in the idea of building artistic and affective reciprocity within and between the territories of Portalegre and Elvas, we work continuously with the rural schools of the José Régio School Group to develop artistic skills in terms of fruition and creation among the students, teachers and staff of this educational community.

We also collaborated with Sílaba Dinâmica on the development of the LUNGO DROM project, which aims to bridge the gap between the Roma community and the majority society by creating a Nomadic Museum - with the support of Gulbenkian and La Caixa through the PARTIS & Art for Change programme.
