Insect

Synopsis

Orlanda Amarílis, a writer who celebrated her 100th birthday this year, left behind an extensive, revolutionary, feminist and 'decolonial' work, from which we have taken the character Maira da Luz, from "The House of Masts", transformed into an insect by a double colonisation by society and colonial power (freely quoting Bonnici). Orlanda says that "Maira da Luz had disappeared without a trace". The theatre, in its impossible task, seeks to draw this trail of those who have disappeared, offering contemporary readings of the bodies of those who, even today, live immersed in an invisibility imposed by others.
